Dear Jeff, I suggest to purchase the excellent Insignia 32" 720p HDTV, to figure out what different amazing things it can perform if you connect it to a great sound system. TV of course would have to be turned on yes otherwise you just connect your sound system to your PC. Logic is priceless. Thank you for your interest,
