“TV for elderly mom, at a home where they often unplug her tv when they clean. W/ her current (older) Insignia TV, every time TV is unplugged it loses its memory of the Over the Air TV channels that I programmed to be "skipped". Will it happen with this?”

I don't know... but you should have it scanned when the TV channel's seemed to go weak. It may be the signal tower is down or the TV broadcasting station has updated the moving of the channel number in your area. I get a message from the broadcast station on my TV when it happens.
