Yes and no. With the Fire TV system you can download certain apps, like Kodi, by allowing your system to download app from unknown sources and then installing them from the company's website via an app like Downloader, that is available in the app store. I don't think DirectTvNow of MLB would have the same capability to download like Kodi, but there might be extensions for those available in Kodi, since Kodi sort of allows you to access all your apps in one environment and allows you to download 3rd party extensions. I was disappointed that there wasn't a YouTube app, but you can still watch YouTube via the browsers provided.
