The average user does not need Cat-6 cable...Cat-5e will suffice in 99% of home applications. However at the price point offered this 4' Cat-6 is a good buy. Secondly, Ethernet cable may not be needed at all if your DVD player has wireless capabilities and your WiFi outputs a strong signal with very little interference.

If a router isn't available and wireless is not a feature on the DVD player, then the network cable will have to connect from the player to the modem.

Please try again later.Since you didn't mention either of you devices having wireless Wi-Fi capabilities, I would say this will work nicely providing the length is long enough for your application. In general I piercer a cable rather than a wireless connection - especially if you plan on streaming audio as nd video.
