This TV is HD capable, meaning anything you plug in through and HDMI input will be shown in HD. It is NOT a smart TV in that it has no connection to the Internet and it has no apps to support Netflix or any of the other streaming options common today. If you want to watch Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, etc., you will need a separate device to make the internet connection such as an Roku player. XBOX, or a internet connected DVD player.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think who ever told you that you need a HD Receiver, was thinking that you need a "HD cable Box" from you Internet Service Provider - If you want HD to be seen on this new LED TV. It looks to me that you intend on using a PlayStation 3 to "access" Netflix, Amazon and viewing Blu-Ray, and if you are - you are ready to go with this LED HD TV!! All new LED flat screen TV's are HD ready - (HDTV 1080p or 1080i) Also, remember that the ISP's are only broadcasting in 1080i and not in 1080p, so if you see on the screen 1080i, it's OK :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.this is a dumb HDTV. everything plugs into the TV. No built in internet or such other fancy features. If you're using Amazon Fire TV or Roku or Apple TV, it will plug into an HDMI port. Blu-ray player will also plug into an HDMI port (with HDMI cables, of course). Output is HD. TV has antenna port for antenna cable - HD TV is no problem. Easy set-up and use.
