QuestionDoes plugging in a headphone jack silence the built-in internal speakers?I want to be able to use the TV without disturbing anyone else in the room. Will plugging in the headphone jack silence the two internal TV speakers? Is there always full audio signal at the headphone jack requiring volume control on the headphones? Perhaps this is covered in the instruction manual, but I can't find the manual on line.

- Answer Yes, when connecting headphones the TV will disable the internal speakers. When you connect headphones it will offer Variable Out that allows you to control volume with the TV remote, or Fixed that is a flat signal that requires adjustment via the headphones or soundbar.

QuestionDoes this TV have a receiver built in?I am looking for a TV and I will be watching Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, and watching DVD's/Blu-ray. I want to watch my movies in HD and have been told I need a built in HD receiver. I really don't want to buy one that's not built in.

- Answer This TV is HD capable, meaning anything you plug in through and HDMI input will be shown in HD. It is NOT a smart TV in that it has no connection to the Internet and it has no apps to support Netflix or any of the other streaming options common today. If you want to watch Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, etc., you will need a separate device to make the internet connection such as an Roku player. XBOX, or a internet connected DVD player.

QuestionHow wide is the stand?Anyone know how wide the stand is? The stand I have is small, so I need to make sure it will fit, but no one ever lists how wide the stand is!

- Answer The stand is only 18 inches wide. I had the same concern but ours seems quite stable on a stand narrower than the TV screen.

- Answer many options for netflix. most modern game consoles have the netflix app and some dvd/bluray players also have netflix. also, stand alone boxes which include roku, apple tv, google chromecast to name a few. even the hdmi out of some tablets/cellphones can mirror the streaming content to an hd tv.

- Answer The info in the right corner is the incoming signal information. If it is showing 720 and you are wanting 1080 you will need to speak with the cable company about changing the output resolution of their equipment.

- Answer It has a coax input but it needs an antenna I believe. I purchased a standalone boosted aerial/antenna with mine which plugs into the coax port and I picked up 18 local channels (11 without the booster on). Hope that helps.

- Answer There are composite video inputs. They are tucked up underneath on the back right hand side. This may be why they're not visible in the photos.

- Answer Yes. My son plays it. He has not complained about the graphics being bad, so I assume they are as good as before. There are only 2 HDMI slots on the back of the TV. I use 1 for the Xbox and 1 for the television. All my other machines are chained together into the one RCA 5-cable accessory port. The salesperson said that virtually all televisions these days have these few ports on the back, so I wouldn't get more even if I spent more money.

QuestionMotion smoothing feature, and can it be turned off?Does this Insignia 40" TV have the motion smoothing feature that most TVs have these days, and if so can it be turned off? I've seen other HDTV's with motion smoothing turned on and I very much dislike the way it looks. I'm looking for a new TV and I'm considering this model so if it has motion smoothing and it can't be turned off then that would be a deal breaker for me. Thanks.
