If I had to guess as to why prices are up and down as you said, this is the newest version or 2017 model of this tv so I think they're just trying to generate more interest and sales. You can always get 2 YR Geek Squad warranty for around $40 to ease your mind in case something happens to it. That's what I did. I'm really happy with mine so far.
A:AnswerI purchased a stand which I love. It attaches to the back of the tv where you would also attach wall mounting brackets.
The feet are not attached when you take the tv out of the box. It is your option to attach them or not.
I love this tv so much and I think you will be happy to have it.
And yes that stand you mentioned will definitely hold this. The tv is only like 20 pounds.
