• The Fire TV Edition television will turn off the TV speakers automatically whenever an audio device is connected. Try to use Bluetooth headphones. David M. - Insignia Support

• Yes the menu will let you turn off the speakers but keep the headphones playing, it has headphone Jack's and dts.
