Hello Jackie, We will strongly recommend to not have the TV installed outside as it was designed to be only used in an indoor location. If you only plan to stream apps on your TV, cable will not be necessary, however if you plan to setup your cable service you can do by connecting it to one of the TV's HDMI ports.
