Can you lay the Freezer down on its side? null

For transport home , yes you can. I put mine in the back of an SUV and it works fine. That was 3 weeks ago.

For transportation Yes, for regular use No. It says in the booklet to keep it straight for few hours (don't remember exactly) before using it.
