• it comes with a reusable filter, but it is garbage. paper filter is always recommended if you want easier cleanup.

• Paper filter is optional. The unit comes with a reusable mesh filter basket. However, I suggest using a paper filter for better results. If you use paper filter, you don't have to use the mesh filter basket
