• No that’s not normal. It is not good for any unit dehumidifier air conditioner to cycling on and off like that prematurely will age the motor..

• We have ours hooked up by hose into floor drain. So I dont hear it a lot. I did notice once when I was in the lower level I did hear it stop and then start again. I live in a very humid area.
