“Do you need 4K HDMI cables with this in order to view things in 4K? My PS4 won't support 4K streaming and I don't have a 4K dvd player either so I don't want to buy something not needed. Does this TV do the automatic upscale where it converts 1080 to 4K?”

the roku built in will play 4k material. Most hdmi cables are already 4k unless you are buying some really terrible cables. it will only play resolution based on what is being used, so if your ps4 is set to 1080p that is what it will display.
