For many people, name brand TVs with all of the features available with this Insignia are completely out of reach. Comparably equipped sets can easily cost thousands. AND...with that being said, I knew going in that I absolutely could not expect it to perform at a level equal to many of the higher-priced units. The TV comes packaged extremely well! It is easy to take out of the box, and one person can set it up very easily. About all you really need is a phillips screwdriver. There is a wall-mounting kit you can buy if you want to mount it on the wall, but it costs around 80 dollars, so I opted for the included stand (two attachable "legs"). They attach super easily and are quite sturdy. Instructions are surprisingly easy to read and understand. The setup after it was set up and turned on was simple, and I was quickly watching my new TV! The picture quality is very good. Depending upon the video source, you can expect a bit of fuzziness on moving objects. Color is very good. I am well-pleased with the ability to see the picture clearly from many different angles. I have found that light directly in front of the set (lighted ceiling fan) can be distracting and annoying, so keep that in mind when deciding where to place the set. I have never owned a Roku TV before, nor have I ever subscribed. I was pleased with the amount and types of free unlimited content. There are several other options available for subscription pricing. As far as I am concerned, Netflix is the best deal, and subscription prices range from around 8 dollars to around 13 dollars for the premium subscription. Now the sound quality? This is the one and only reason I gave this unit a 4-star rating versus a 5-star...the sound quality is substandard, even for a unit in this price range. It gets good volume, but the sound is way too scattered, and the best place to hear it is to the side of the TV, but then you can't hardly watch TV sitting to the side of it. I ended up buying a sound bar, and that took care of the sound issue. Again, all in all, this is a great 55' TV for the price, and I would highly recommend this unit for anyone who wants an overall good TV.

      Great 4K TV!

Ok, I've read lots of reviews on here for TV's, I'm going to keep this short as possible. I own a 65" Sharp Aquos 4k TV with HDR, and I have several Insignia TV's throughout the house including LED's and 4k's. This TV stands up to all of them, no question. I'm reading people complaining about lines, colors and other defects after x amount of time, well it happens no matter what brand you buy and what you pay, lemons exist. I'll tell you this, I've owned several Insignia products including lots of TV's, can't beat them. This TV is as sharp in clarity as my Sharp Aquos. Sound is good, don't understand the complaints. Every program is recorded at different volume levels and characteristics. The TV is HDR compliant. I have an LG soundbar and sub, sounds excellent. TV doesn't feel as cheaply made as others, looks and feels great with all the options. I have no had no issues with WI-FI connectivity and signal loss. Being a ROKU TV, the apps on your ROKU account transfer to this TV. Other TV's won't let you add or remove apps you want, this TV does. Not sure about people saying they are being made to signup and pay money, no such thing here, free ROKU account, and you're up period. Bottom line, everything is made in China these days. You are not going to be disappointed with this TV at this price point in the least. Save yourself a couple of hundred dollars here over the other brands. Almost 4.7 stars out 5 with almost 1100 reviews, that says it all. Guess, I didn't keep it that short, hope this helps as you try and decide on a TV.

I purchased this TV because of the built-in Roku and because I've never cared about spending top dollar for the super hd, ultra 4k and real-life like experience. We are pretty simple - we want a nice affordable TV that meets our needs. This TV replaced our 10 year old 42" plasma, which was only missing tech that we used heavily and now this TV resolves that and is an awesome upgrade! The built-in Roku allows us to watch tv using our cable provider's Roku app! This is the primary reason we purchased it - one less box since it has Roku built right into it. The TV is essentially a Roku box :) It's the best way I can explain it. it also saved us from having to flip through the TV input/sources annoyance, because on the home screen (which is a Roku home screen), you can select your inputs/sources right from it - it's so awesome! Now on quality - I can't really judge. I've seen some good quality and some not so great quality, but it's hard to tell where the problem is? Some YouTube videos look amazing, some look bad and the same goes for some content when using the cable provider's app. Everything being 4k and UHD ready? We aren't there yet, so I'm not surprised. So this is another reason we weren't willing to spend so much money on a new TV. Also chose this TV because I'm not into the full deep-end "Smart TV". It's slow, clunky and not ready. Maybe in another year - but not now. I don't want to be bound to my TV purchase, because of how much I paid, even though it will be slow and useless as the technology upgrades. This TV allows us to consciously agree and feel the investment was small enough, locks us into just Roku and still gives us the ability to add components for limitless entertainment - Nvidia Shield, Mi Box, etc. Overall - this is a great TV for the money and the quality, flexibility and tech it provides. Like everything else when it comes to tech - purchase what meets your need and helps you consume tech and entertainment the way you need.

Firstly this is my first TV purchase, and being an avid tech fan and follower I wanted to spend my money wisely and in the most efficient way possible. Since Insignia is a BBY subsidiary brand I know I can rely on the service and warranty of BestBuy since they are everywhere. Plus Insignia uses parts from LG & other famous brands which is good. Picture: The TV is huge, and the Picture is bright and clear. I have seen my friends 50" LG 4K tv and this is much better than that. I would recommend turning off the motion smoothing (pseudo 120hz refresh rate) I felt the picture was much better at the usual 60hz. (I leave the motion smoothing ON for the Xbox, but for chromecast and other inputs I switch it off, you can find this in the picture settings (*) and goto advanced picture settings) Sound: again considering my frame of reference which is my parents 50" sony 4K & my friend's 50" LG this is on par with the heavy weights. Assembly: Super easy, just follow the steps Remote: simple and easy nothing fancy. I recommend the Roku app, I use the Tv at night and just plug my headphones into the phone and the Roku app streams audio through the app instead of TV which is useful. Side comments: 1. The first couple weeks the heated plastic smell which comes for all the new TV's is strong with this one. But it subsided within 2.5 weeks.

      Overall a great TV

My previous TV was an Insignia, and after 6 years it still worked perfectly, so I wanted another one. I'm pretty happy with this one, but there are two problems. I bought an optical audio cable to connect my sound bar to the TV, but the plug kept falling out of the TV's port. I tried both plugs in the TV, and they both fit in the sound bar just fine. I returned the cable to Best Buy and asked what else I could do. The guy said I could call Insignia to get the TV repaired or replaced, or I could use an HDMI cable instead. Dealing with the manufacturer sounded like a hassle, but my sound bar didn't have an HDMI port. So he sold me a sound bar that does (or so he said). I got it home and found out that it actually doesn't have an HDMI port, but it came with an optical audio cable that fits the TV. I suspect that it fits because it's thinner and cheaper-looking than the first one. The AV ports on the TV are inset and surrounded by plastic, so I think the first cable wasn't going in straight because it was hitting the plastic part. Also, the volume button on the remote doesn't work half the time, so I had to buy a universal remote (I don't have cable). The universal remote also works with the TV's Home menu and everything else, although of course it doesn't have the quick-access buttons for Hulu, Netflix, Sling, and Google. I went to Settings and turned off the TV's speakers, so the remote also controls the volume on my sound bar. Hopefully these initial annoyances will be the last because I really like this TV. I was accessing Hulu through my smart Blu-Ray player, but it would sometimes buffer a lot or it couldn't connect. I had also tried a Roku box, and it did the same thing. Now that the streaming services are actually in the TV, they work flawlessly. (I highly recommend using an ethernet cable instead of Wifi.)

Great Picture, Terrible Hard Drive Space

      Posted

This TV has a great picture quality and pretty decent sound (although it is in a small room). What I dont like about it is the fact that I have to keep factory resetting it every week or two because it tells me that there isn’t enough space to open one of my streaming channels. I’m told to delete one or more of my installed channels and try again (which hasn’t opened up enough space to fix the problem, even if i delete 5-10 channels). In the age or cord cutting, I now have only 4 channels on the TV (I deleted the rest trying to make space)... Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and Prime TV. Prime TV hasn’t even been activated since the last time I factory reset. Why do these apps that stream from the internet take up so much space that they won’t work? And why isn’t there an option to delete cookies or something similar to delete the excess data instead of removing the whole channel (which doesn’t ever free up enough space anyways)? There is an USB hookup where I think you are able to add a flash drive for more space, but if you use a Chromecast and power it through that USB, you cannot add extra storage. If you’re planning to use this as a traditional TV with a cable box, bluray/DVD player, etc., it’s a great option for you. If you use a lot of streaming services (and one would think that would be the case with Roku built in), you may find yourself disappointed or frustrated with your experience.

      Problem with speakers/volume (Headphone mode)

      Posted
      Mecchie

I purchased this tv in February and it worked fine perfect but one day in about April the sound on the tv switched to headphone mode all on its own. I’ve never put headphones into the tv so I don’t know why it does this. I’ve went to every setting on the tv, cable box, I’ve unplugged everything but nothing takes the headphone mode off we have to wait for the sound to come back on it’s own. At first it do it for a day and work for a couple hours the next day then back to no sound but recently the tv was stuck like this for 2 weeks until the sound came back on Sunday and yesterday (Saturday within the same week) it back on headphone mode. It’s really irritating not being able to hear the tv when you want to watch it. The tv is located in the living room so that makes it worse. I reported the problem so many times with no response, so I’ll make sure I’ll never buy from this company again. I’ve gotten to many headaches trying to deal with this tv.

I'm very impressed with this Insignia 55" TV with built-in ROKU with 4K Ultra HD. Item #NS-55DR620NA18. The sound quality is not bad, but could be improved. The picture quality is SUPERB! The colors jump out at you! And this is just the right size TV to own. Got a great price on a 1-day Flash Sale for $349.99. The pair of feet that come with this TV are Ok, if you've got a large enough area to set them on. I bought the single pedestal mount which set the TV at just the right height for where I have it sitting. Overall, and so far ... everything is working great! I did purchase the 5 yr warranty because of the way the warranty read, because if anything happens with-in the 5 yr period, they either have to come to my house and repair the problem or give me a Brand New TV if they can't. If you're slightly hearing impaired you might want to consider purchasing a 'Sound Bar' to enhance the sound, as the speakers are on the back-side of the TV. Don't know why they couldn't put the speakers where they projected the sound to the front? But that's my only complaint, which is minor.
