• It will cut thru staple but I don't recommend more then 3 sheet bc it over heats quickly!

• In the beginning it did, but now after 3 years of use, it has lived it's life and staples just collect in the area where the shred teeth are. Maybe tht's just mine, but it did shred staples up until year 2.5.

• Suggest to remove them. The manual says so too. The teeth for shredding are so close and light weight, you might end up jamming the teeth or if not, in the long wrong, spoil the teeth. I didn't even risk trying

• I used 2 to shred 50 years of records. Put staples in and it handled them just fine. No you do not have to remove staples
