You can reverse it to help clear jams. The switch has 4 positions: FWD, AUTO, OFF, REV.

Please try again later.The instructions say to try reverse, but this doesn't work really well if you've tried to shred too many sheets at once, and the machine may overheat and turn off. If the shredder is jammed with paper shreds, you have to turn it off, turn the shredder part upside down, and pull out some shreds.
