It did cut sheets with staples, but this is light use shredder. maybe 2-3 sheets with a staple. Staples on any shredder kill it, unless its a more powerful motor and more expensive shredder.

So far, I love this shredder. I have shredded paper, credit cards, a manila folder, but I actually remove all staples so did not try that.
