You can use a plastic bag and drape the excess over the edge of the bin. The shedder top will fits down with no issue. I suggest to not waste even more plastic with using a plastic bag for this. Just dump it into your trash can outside or your kitchen trash can.

I don't line it with anything. When full, just dump all of the shredded contents into a plastic bag and throw it out.
