Cool down requires 15-20 minutes. It is not recommended to be used for over 2 minutes of constant activity, but I got over an hour by using short breaks of only a few seconds.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It takes a couple of seconds to shred a normal 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and a little bit less for a credit card. Cool down time? Not sure. I only shred occasionally, and haven't shred constantly for more than 30 seconds worth of documents. It works fine for that. I wouldn't trust this thing for 15 mins of consecutive shredding–at that point, shell out real money for a real shredder.

For the amount of shredding I do in a month or in one day, I don't mind. I don't need/want a large shedder that takes up space. This is compact...simple yet it does the job!
