Sound like your Samsung TV is like mine; minimal inputs and no separate basic audio output jack. There should be an SPDIF (optical jack) and there might even be an HDMI labeled ARC. This stands for Audio Return Channel (via that HDMI) even though that HDMI is typically an input jack from a device like a DVD player. Good he usb is only an input (I believe) and you will not be able to simply hook up headphones to via USB. Don’t know what headphones you have that have the RCA red and white connectors but for some of the options below you could use that or would need to get an adapter cable that goes from RCA red white connector to the standard 3.5mm headphone jack connector. Here are your options that I suggest based on my experience: 1) You get an economical sound bar that has a headphone jack. Connect the TV to the sound bar via the SDPIF optical cable and at anytime connect headphones. 2) Get a decent computer speaker sound system that has a headphone jack (you will find it easier to purchase a computer audio system that has a headphone jack as AP poses to a sound bar). 3) Purchase an Adapter box that converts SPDIF to normal electrical signal (like RCA line level outs) and those sometimes have headphone jack ( a quick search found this one “ Techole Aluminum case - Digital to Analog Audio Converter-192kHz Optical to RCA with Optical &Coaxial Cable. Digital SPDIF TOSLINK to Stereo L/R and 3.5mm Jack DAC Converter for PS4 Xbox HDTV DVD Headphone“. 4) best option - buy a pair of wireless headphones that always have the connection at the base station for optical input.
