- Answer When I purchased my new tv my my DVD player would not plug in to HDMI. Samsung said you can buy an adapter to HMDI. If the DVD player is older the adapter may not work. I do have an older DVD player and have not tried to buy an adapter yet. Since both HDMI ports are already used Samsung said I would have to unplug one item, plug in the DVD player and reverse that when done.

QuestionMy old CD changed only has RCA R/W (L/R) audio out. THe LG soundbar only has a ‘Portable’ 3.5mm headphone jack available for input. Will this cable work for this situation?

- Answer It will work if the 3.5mm jack is an input. But, if the jack is labeled as a headphone jack that means the sound is coming out, so it’s an output. If I’m looking at the right model, it looks like the only input on the Soundbar is an optical port. If this is the case you may need to loop the CD player through your TV if your tv has both RCA jacks in and an optical out. Or I believe they make RCA to optical converter boxes.

- Answer Yes. You may need to keep the volume no higher than midway up as the receiver input is expecting a line level input which is lower power than the headphone jack output. You won’t blow anything but it will start sounding distorted. Basically have the phone on the lowest setting and your stereo system about mid way up on volume. Then slowly turn up the iPhone until it gets loud enough for you, making sure you don’t go past the mid point on the phone’s volume. If you hear distortion than back it off and if you still need more volume than increase the stereo volume.

QuestionConnecting a set of headphones to my Samsung SMART TV. The connection at the TV is a USB port. The connection to the headphone base is red/white audio. If I use this connector, I'll need another adaptor with the USB connection. Is there a better option?

- Answer Sound like your Samsung TV is like mine; minimal inputs and no separate basic audio output jack. There should be an SPDIF (optical jack) and there might even be an HDMI labeled ARC. This stands for Audio Return Channel (via that HDMI) even though that HDMI is typically an input jack from a device like a DVD player. Good he usb is only an input (I believe) and you will not be able to simply hook up headphones to via USB. Don’t know what headphones you have that have the RCA red and white connectors but for some of the options below you could use that or would need to get an adapter cable that goes from RCA red white connector to the standard 3.5mm headphone jack connector. Here are your options that I suggest based on my experience: 1) You get an economical sound bar that has a headphone jack. Connect the TV to the sound bar via the SDPIF optical cable and at anytime connect headphones. 2) Get a decent computer speaker sound system that has a headphone jack (you will find it easier to purchase a computer audio system that has a headphone jack as AP poses to a sound bar). 3) Purchase an Adapter box that converts SPDIF to normal electrical signal (like RCA line level outs) and those sometimes have headphone jack ( a quick search found this one “ Techole Aluminum case - Digital to Analog Audio Converter-192kHz Optical to RCA with Optical &Coaxial Cable. Digital SPDIF TOSLINK to Stereo L/R and 3.5mm Jack DAC Converter for PS4 Xbox HDTV DVD Headphone“. 4) best option - buy a pair of wireless headphones that always have the connection at the base station for optical input. Like the Ansten Wireless Headphones for Smart TV Watching with Transmitter Charging Dock, Digital Optical System.

- Answer Color is just a guide. Do RED to RED and WHITE to BLACK. It's just phasing and stereo separation anyway .. You may not even tell the difference if reversed.
