  • QuestionIs this freezer frost free ?

    Asked by 5678.

    • Answer I do not think so; it only draws approx. 200 watts when running, & has a drain hole: hallmarks of a manual defrost. I run manual freezers on a manual (pin)timer, 12 hrs on, 12 hrs off. It allows rock-hard freezer foods, but is off enuf to control ice buildup; I haven’t had to defrost our freezer in about 7 years—& it saves a chunk of change off utility bills.

  • QuestionWhat are the inside dimensions. Need to know if a 13X18 sheet pan will fit on the shelf.

    Asked by P3.

    • Answer Hello, the shelf measures 17 inches Width ,16.5 inches depth, so a 13 inches × 18 inches sheet pan will not fit flat inside the unit. A standard 13 × 18 inches sheet pan requires at least 18 inches of internal width or depth to lay flat. It may fit at an angle, but it cannot be placed level on the shelf. • QuestionI have a GMC Terrain SUV. Can I carry the freezer home lying on its side or back, not upright.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello, thank you for your question. You can transport the Insignia™ 7.1 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer (NS‑UZ70WH26L) on its side or back if needed. Once you get it home, make sure to let it sit upright for the same amount of time it was laying down (up to 24 hours) before plugging it in. This allows the compressor oil to settle properly. Thank you for choosing Insignia. Sidhartha | Insignia

  • QuestionThere is a hole under the drawer that seems to be for the manual defrost. Where does it drain?

    Asked by ASte.

    • Answer Check underneath from the front, or look at back, for a tray that should be under that drain hole. Old tech, I’ve had to substitute old baking pans, & once even just formed aluminum foil pan. Drips usually dry in place. Some drains have tubing to direct drainage to drip pan off to one side under the box.

  • QuestionIs this supposed to be level front to back? The leveling feet on the front make it way higher at the front.

    Asked by Kyle.

    • Answer Hello Kyle, thanks for your question. Yes. This model NS‑UZ70SS26L includes front leveling feet only, and it is normal for the front to sit higher during adjustment. Upright freezers are designed to be leveled from the front so the cabinet sits perfectly level or with a slight backward tilt. Mueez | Insignia

  • QuestionJust installed this in the garage. Plenty of space around it. It’s level front to back and side to side. So why am I getting ice around the front inside edge of the unit? This never happened with the old one. Side yes, opening, no

    Asked by Denkuip.

    • Answer Hello, thank you for the question. Ice along the front inside edge of your Insignia Garage ready Freezer usually means warm air is getting in, often from a door seal not fully closing or something inside preventing a tight seal. Please check that the gasket is clean and the door is closing firmly all around. For further help, please contact us at 877‑467‑4289 or insignia@bestbuy.com. Poojitha | Insignia

  • QuestionCan you use an extension cord to plug it in?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello, thank you so much for your question. Yes, you can technically use an extension cord with the Insignia 7.1 Cu. Ft. Garage Ready Upright Convertible Freezer, but it is not recommended. Freezers draw a significant amount of power, and using an extension cord can lead to overheating, voltage drops, or improper operation. If it’s absolutely necessary, you should only use a heavy‑duty, grounded extension cord that is rated for large appliances. For best performance and safety, we always recommend plugging the freezer directly into a dedicated wall outlet. Sudeep | Insignia
