A:AnswerMost of the internet will tell you that a 12 guage cable is what you need. I will advise you to not use an extension cable if you can help it. The risk of fires is too great with something that draws so much current (especailly the more capable 1000W microwaves).
My suggestion is to place the microwave as close to an outlet as possible or call an appliance repair guy to see if they will replace te existing cable with a longer cable.
