Most microwaves are ~ 1500 Watt load. But to be sure you need to see what your specific microwave power draw is. Check specs in its manual or on labels stuck on it somewhere.. (back or bottom typical). This power cord is rated for 1625 Watts. So typical a 1500 watt is covered.

The risk of fires is too great with something that draws so much current (especailly the more capable 1000W microwaves). My suggestion is to place the microwave as close to an outlet as possible or call an appliance repair guy to see if they will replace te existing cable with a longer cable.

But if by "size" you mean wattage, you have to look at your specific microwave's manual and look up its max wattage output. This power cord says it can handle up to 1625 Watts, so only use this with microwaves that have LESS than 1600W maximum power consumption. Otherwise you need a thicker power cord for microwaves that are more powerful if you don't want a fire hazard.
