I bought a 6qt insignia pressure cooker.. I am seeing there is a glass lid for that cooker ... my question is if I buy one of those can I cover the pressure cooker while the rice is cooking ... instead of the heavy cover? null

You will need to use the lid that comes with the pressure cooker to cook rice. The glass lid does not allow pressure to build within the pot which is needed for cooking rice.

I would think it would work more like a crockpot that way and would be okay. I'm thinking you need the original lid to build pressure but I'm blonde so....

I would think so. The glass lid makes the pressure cooker act as a slow cooker. As I haven't used the rice function, I'm not sure if that performs under pressure or not. Best to see what the instructions say.
