You need an HD TV to receive HD or an HD antennae, so as long as you have a tv this HDTV Antenna will bring in the channels. Will most likely work better if you place by a window, but its reception is dependent on conditions, so hook it up where you want it and see how many channels you can draw in. If good enough then the answer is no, if not you can add some coaxial cable to extend it and then try it again. I am 30 miles away and receive 58 channels. I am facing away from the mountain with the repeater and have a brick home and trees all around. The antenna is inside and about 2 ft from the window and 6 ft high.

To watch the On Demand TV Broadcast you only need to connect this Antenna to a TV (smart or not) and to run a channel scan to get the signal.
