A:AnswerMake sure you took off the needle guard. If you did that, you may need to adjust the tracking force on the other end of the arm so that it presses down more onto the record. Do it just enough so that it plays the record and maybe a little more so it doesn't skip but do NOT just turn it to apply max pressure because that can damage the records when it plays. If you are unsure of how any of that works, I suggest you look up a Youtube review of this turntable, the first result should show you how to adjust it (Note, you don't NEED a scale, just keep slowly adjusting it)
A:AnswerHello, just tried and yes, it plays with equipped volume control. Great machine. Just buy cheap Force Scale Gauge to calibrate the stylus force- in the manual it adjusts without calibration
A:AnswerThe sound is balanced, good bass and treble with quality speakers. I have a pair of small active Alesis 320 and records sound great, so imagine having super speakers. The Insignia is much better than the suitcase turntables.
A:AnswerNo, it will not play 78's. The 78 refers to the revolving speed ( 78 revolutions per minute- RPM) This has speed settings for 33 RPM (albums) and 45 rpm (small singles)
A:AnswerHello, thank you for your question. The Insignia NS‑BTST21 uses a Moving Magnet (MM) cartridge and comes factory‑equipped with an Audio‑Technica ATN3600L conical stylus. The cartridge output level is approximately 3–4 mV (5 cm/sec at 1 kHz), and the stylus is replaceable with the same ATN3600L model. The turntable includes a built‑in phono preamp designed for MM cartridges only.

A:AnswerHello Jere, thank you for the question. The Insignia Bluetooth Stereo Turntable has built in speakers, so you can listen to your records without needing any additional equipment. You can also connect external speakers through Bluetooth wireless or by using the 3.5 mm audio output if you prefer a louder or richer sound.
