It has NiCads. My guess is they will last a year or two, then it gets tossed (can't replace the batteries). You can probably take it apart and DIY the swap, but by that time I'll be ready for a new model.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The battery is rechargeable and either NiCad or Lithium - I could not determine which. It is internal and supposed to be long-lasting and I don't see an easy way to replace it. At the price of the vacuum, I'd suspect the battery would likely be the same cost as a new vacuum.
