For anyone wondering if it is still stable to move the clamp to the other side of the pole the answer is yes. TLDR; Yes it is still stable.

Once set up, I can rotate the one on the left farther left, and I can rotate the other on the right, to a farther right distance. I was curious about that too before buying it, but it doesn't seem like you'll have a problem. I didn't have a problem with it rotating either direction.
