“Is it safe to transport this unit on its side for less than an hour as long as it has time to settle before connecting to power? Or must it be transported upright?”

I did just that in SUV took about 30 minutes to get it home. It’s boxed pretty well with lots of foam so no damage from lying on side for the trip. As for compressor refrigerant, I let it sit for over a day before plugging it up. Mine’s been in service a couple months now and works great.
