We have this set up in our media room in the basement, which we like to keep free of other sounds for optimum viewing experience plus the basement is quieter than other parts of the house. Given all that I would say it has been quiet enough to not even draw our attention whn we are watching a show or movie. We have only used it for a couple of months and it has been quite silent.

It is quiet, motor doesn’t really kick on unless it has been opened for a long time, even if it’s on I don’t notice it.
