Is it affected by heat while parked in the sun null

It's not supposed to because it uses a heat resistant capacitor for that specific reason. However, I do not recommend you leave anything out in the open because it will tempt even the cheapest of thieves break in and take it. You know thieves will steal virtually anything nowadays. It is easy to snap on and snap off and take it with you. And you can do that in a heartbeat with this unit.

This camera was designed to be used inside the car.
