“I’m curious as to when left plugged in does it drain the battery? Thus far I like this cam but noticed it has a feature to record motion and contact when parked and would like to keep it plugged in while parked.”

Your dash cam turns on automatically when you turn on your vehicle. This dash cam does not support parking recording mode.
