supplied battery lasts about 3-4 months.  not sure if there is an on off switch.  i think it sleeps after a time with lack of keystrokes

Just started using it so I do not know how long the batteries will last. (Although common sense predicts with heavy use they will need to be replaced more frequently).
There is no "off" key for when it is not being used.
