The wood is pretty soft so you can easily use a Phillips screwdriver to drive the screws into the wood making your own holes. Ten screws should be more than enough to secure the large back panel. You don't really need 16 screws. If you preferred, you could buy some small nails instead of the screws. Just make sure the heads of the nails are larger than the holes in the panel.
