The canned answer from customer service is WRONG. This is a North/South American NEMA plug input only. That means it can only be plugged into North and South America receptacles. It is for non-Americans to be able to plug in. Useful for people from other continents visiting North or South America. Useless otherwise. Why are they selling this to people in the United States who don't need it??
