• Some components may need additional power for the device to operate, I have found most don't but it is nice to have it just in case.

• Well I'm not a tech you see, but I think that it's there because in certain cases you might need to run a phone as a remote and or to recharge another appliance that needs power but then I'm not certain about this? Thank You. Alan Bloom

• The user doc is available on line. See the link to it in the quick start guide that came with the camera. It is a pdf file soo you can download and print it of simply use kindle reader or iBooks to read.
