Yes you can. The only thing is that you need another cord to provide more power to the adapter. For example, I tried using the adapter from my MacBook Pro to a Dell monitor. It wouldn’t work, in that the Mac’s screen would flicker. Once I used an old Android charger and plugged it into the Power port on the adapter itself, it worked!
