• Check that you have the correct input signal properly selected. Sounds like the "default signal source" is wrong.

• Try to use the adapter with other cable/computer/monitor.

• You have bent a pin. Get a good light and look it over and bend back the bad pin. I used my pocket knife. I also did it to the CPU chip once. Just be gentle.
