Would this work in the basement of a one story house? null

"Yes" I have used this antenna in my basement bar in this 60 year old 3 window basement for over 3 months now ,without having to rotate it.

Mine does. To get better reception I added an antenna booster to it

If it doesn't work in the basement, put it upstairs or outside and run a cable wire to the basement.

That's what I bought it for and it worked just remember you might have to move it around and move the two antennas

It works in my basement. Stations are in the 20 - 30 mile range. Give it a shot, if it doesn't work, just return it and give an amplified antenna a try.
