“When I connect Panasonic Blu ray to analog receiver, the CD plays but sound is not in stereo. When I play cassette or turn table, sound is coming out of both speakers. Question: does the DVD (cd) to receiver via optical cable only play in one speaker?”

Should play on both. Mine plays throughout my surround sound. All speakers work and subwoofer too. Note: if I don’t use my surround regularly, I have to cycle power each time. Unplugging.
