  • QuestionIs this antenna multi-directional or directional?

    Asked by Doodad.

    • Answer Yes, this is a directional antenna but not in a left right horizontal plane. It is directuonal in the vertical plane. This means that signals striking the antenna are weaker as the vertical angle above a perfect horizontal increases. There are advantages to this design. The most important one is when HDTV transmitter sites are spread out from your reception location you should not need a rotator. The disadvantage is that TV signals reflected off buildings arriving at the antenna later than the same signal head on may cause loss of reception even if the signal is strong. Moving the antenna a few inches to a few feet can solve the problem.
