“I have a new yamaha amp with a headphone jack. the sound from the samsung tv goes through the amp. Can I hook up these headphones to the jack on the amp? how about wiring from the audio cables of the headphones to the jack? Is there a cord?”

I have a similar set up. I hooked the headphone wires to my TV, not my amp and all is well, on both.
