“Am i the only person who feels like the highest vollume on the player is very low? When i am on a bus i can barly hear any music. Is that how it is meant to be or am i missing something?”

Buses can be noisy. Maybe get special ear phones that totally blot out outside noise. I have been listening to my music at home where it's quiet. Lately, listening to an audio book and find the author to be very clear and I even have to lower the volume.
