- Answer Unit will not play. The word "HOLD" displays when I try to play a CD. The batteries are good.

QuestionI have used my old Insignia portable CD player a lot. So I can see that it might wear out. But the brand-new one I just got out of the carton won't play and displays the Er message! It was a Christmas present last year so I can't take it back. What to do?

- Answer Yup, many of us get electronics that are spare and the warranty is expired before we open it. It is probably a head alignment error. Try two or three CDs before you give up because the CDs have a little error too and the combination may allow some CDs to play and some not. Unless you have equipment and skills, it's cheaper to toss it than repair it. Sorry for that but it was probably dropped (even while still packaged) which offsets the mechanism.

QuestionAm i the only person who feels like the highest vollume on the player is very low? When i am on a bus i can barly hear any music. Is that how it is meant to be or am i missing something?

- Answer Buses can be noisy. Maybe get special ear phones that totally blot out outside noise. I have been listening to my music at home where it's quiet. Lately, listening to an audio book and find the author to be very clear and I even have to lower the volume.

- Answer I thought it came with an auto adapter> If it doesn't then I have been using my adapter from an older unit that died with great success. No problems at all.

- Answer my old one from califone did the same thing. from what i could find out online, it was broken. i was pretty mad about it as i hardly used it, never dropped it, etc. i tried 'cleaning' it with a q-tip, like recommended online to no avail. this one seems okay so far. nothing lasts like it used to. ticks me off.
