“I need the ice to stay frozen once it is made, not recycled and remade with melted water. So basically if needs to serve as it's own freezer like the larger commercial grade ones. Does this one do that ? I dont want to buy it if it doesnt. thanks”

No it thaws and refreezes. I would suggest making a bunch and putting it in your freezer.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.While this is an excellent ice maker, it does not also serve as a freezer. It does produce terrific ice quickly, but the ice will eventually melt and get recycled into more ice. This is the best countertop ice maker I've ever owned.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, ice will melt slowly as it sits in the ice compartment and the water will recycle to make more ice. I make batches of gallon size bags and keep in the freezer for later use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Although the ice does stay solid for quite a while in the basket, it will not stay frozen for an extended period of time. It does recycle the melted water and makes it into ice nuggets again.
