There is a reservoir under the ice tray. You remove the tray and fill the reservoir to make ice.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Internal reservoir only. Not very big However, I kept the external tank from my broken Opal and connected it to the lower tank drain line. Keeps the internal tank full. Only need to refill once a day vs many times fore internal. This thing makes LOADS of ice quickly.
