• Yes. It will send signal from RCA to HDMI, not the other way around.

• This unit is designed (I believe) to send RCA analog signal (VCR, DVD, CD, Cassette, Record, etc.) TO your receiver via an HDMI connection. However, I don't think you can send your TV HDMI signal to your receiver to, "process" and send to speakers. I think....
