I connected the Insignia player via HDMI to the LG 42P J350 TV set. The TV has an optical audio output. I bought an optical to analog converter from Amazon. This way I get stereo sound (2.0?) through my receiver when playing DVD's or Pandora. I imagine the newer home theater receivers have optical and coax inputs and 5.1 speaker terminals.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most likely go through a receiver. I use the audio output from my TV - with a small adapter - to go directly to a simple 2.1 speaker system. That might be an option for you.
