• You can place this induction heater on any flat surface. You can use it on a smooth glass countertop. The bottom of the heater stays cool, and it has a fan that runs while it's on to keep the bottom surface cool. This works well on Steel cookware or pots and pans that stick to a magnet when you hold a magnet on the bottom of the pan. You cannot use glass pans on this induction heater, because it uses magnets to heat. I bought this and it works well on my steel pans and my cast iron pans.

• The bottom of the pot has to be magnetic that's why they put a magnet with the box so you can make sure it's the right pot
